On Friday night I made the trip to Montreal to take in the first Major League Baseball game (albeit exhibition play) since 2004. Olympic Stadium was packed, with over 46,000 fans passing through the turnstiles to see big league ball being played in the Big O once again.
While the game featured the Toronto Blue Jays playing host to the New York Mets, the two game weekend was all about celebrating the Montreal Expos. Before the Friday night game, the team paid tribute to the late Gary Carter. On Saturday afternoon, the great Expo team from 1994 was honoured. Walking through the city, Expos caps and jerseys were spotted on just about every corner. It was a fun bit of nostalgia.
The video above is from the seventh inning stretch, when the crowd got up to sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game and then followed that up with a “Let’s go Expos!” chant. Below are a few photos from the trip.
