I noticed today that Google had recently refreshed a lot of their Street View locations in Ottawa. I knew this would be happening at some point soon because on a bicycle commute to work one morning, I saw the google car, with its giant multi-cam passing by. I think the whole Street View concept is a lot of fun, I’m not too worried about the privacy angle, so I made sure to slow down and stare right at the camera. You can see the result above.
This is the second time that I’ve spotted myself on Google Street View. In the summer of 2008, I lived in Berlin, Germany. A year or two later, I was killing time online and decided to take a look at my old home there. To my surprise, the Google cam snapped multiple photos of me leaving the house and walking down the street. I don’t remember seeing the Google car, which is strange, because in one photo, it looks like I’m staring at the camera.
Anyways, here’s a couple of photos from that encounter.
Have you ever been spotted on Google Street View? If so how did you feel about it? Do you think it’s fun or do you view it as a gross invasion of privacy?
